Yet another controversial win by Manny Pacquiao over Juan Manuel Marquez ending but a few minutes ago. I have to say though, the jury is still out for me.
Sure, I was watching the fight as closely as I possibly could, sure, Pacquiao looked like he was just as surprised as everyone on hearing that he actually won, and surely, less than a minute before the bell rang in the twelfth, I, along with the dozen or so of the motley crew I watched it with (including Jun above) were all resigned to the fact that Pacquiao lost.
But the thing is, none of us were really counting the number of punches being thrown as opposed to the punches actually landing, much less be competent authorities on the scoring/judging aspect of the sport.

One thing I know for sure though is, Pacquiao's win today risks somewhat tarnishing his reputation, and consequently ours (as a country).
Not that this country (or he) has a sterling reputation to begin with, but when one thinks of a massively popular and internationally recognized cultural icon (like him) that is so associated with say, a country (like us) and the cultural icon gets very negative (international press) there will always be an indelible association. And the possibility of that shit that we really need a fuckload less of (actually happening).
I would have to agree with Jun's simple sentiment, nakaka-sama nga ng loob.
