Christopher Hitchens

"Beware the irrational, however seductive. Shun the 'transcendent' and all who invite you to subordinate or annihilate yourself. Distrust compassion; prefer dignity for yourself and others. Don't be afraid to be thought arrogant or selfish. Picture all experts as if they were mammals. Never be a spectator of unfairness or stupidity. Seek out argument and disputation for their own sake; the grave will supply plenty of time for silence. Suspect your own motives, and all excuses. Do not live for others any more than you would expect others to live for you."

Small Demons

I've always liked books, though I have not actually picked up a (physical) book for a while now, mostly due to the iPad's iBooks and Newstand (among other things, like CIA: Operation Ajax), but this seems to address a particular need to remember and associate stuff you read in passing with other stuff which doesn't even necessarily have anything to do with the book anymore. Its kind of like mapping out one's train of thought or simply a swell way of bookmarking stuff. In any case, this is something I'm looking forward to when it comes out of beta.
